Hi all,

I'm building the USS Holland at 1:12 scale as a fully RC submarine. I can't find out what shade the grey on the 'above water' hull/deck is.

I assume the normal US Navy grey of that period.

Greatful for any advice. A comparative RAL colour would be ideal.

Many thanks.

Hello Peter,
First thing first, Welcome to the site.
In all of my research of Pre World War 1 US Navy Ships most were painted in Slate Gray. White Ensign has that paint in enamel in its colorcoat paints, I would recommend the colorcoat paint for any ship build.
I hope this helps,
Cheers,
Bruce

Many thanks indeed Bruce for your kind reply.

Slate grey it is then.

We don't have that paint manufacturer in the UK but I have a good, good friend in OK who I am sure can get me a tin.

I'll post a photo once it's finished but a while yet.

Many thanks again.

Peter.

Hello Peter.
White Ensign Models is a English Company. They have a web site whiteensignmodels.com, I think.
You should be able to order it from your home country.
Cheers,
Bruce
