Hi guys,
i always consider new projects and incidentally I fell on this:

Despite having both the Conway "Vospers and Elco" book, a set of mild quality plans thanks to a friend and the Squadron Vosper book too, I can't find anything relevant when it comes to pictures and stuff to that particular version.
So my questions are

-What books the modellers use as reference when they model that boat?

-Would anybody modelling that boat already could take pictures for me of the whaleback -forecastle -turret -mast for me (I would be very grateful for this)

-technical question: the turret would be of the Dewandre type like on page 216 of the Conway book

-another technical question : Is there any PLANE of the same ear that would have this same turret as it might be easier for me to find some good plans this way (Beaufighter, hampden or so). Appa'rently there's a vickers 303 in it..

thanks for viewing!

Hi JBA,
The Airfix kit of the High Speed Rescue Launch was modelled on the British Power Boats craft, they were not made by Vospers. The Royal Navy used this type of vessel as MGB`s,that would make an interesting conversion!!As regards Ref material ,I can`t think of anything at the moment, but I`ll have a look.

Hi Jean-Bernard

I think that early Mks of the Halifax had similar dorsal turrets.

I vaguely remember that the RN version Phil mentions was the subject of a conversion build/ article in the Airfix magazine (where else ) circa 1980/81. Someone here should be able to lay their mucky paws on that surely?

Cheers

Karol

Hi again,
I think what Karol said about the Halifax is correct, although, only on the early marks. The other aircraft type to be fitted with this turret was the Lockheed Hudson.
I`ve had a look though my references ,but as I don`t build coastal craft I haven`t got anything, sorry!!
Cheers Phil

Thanks Phil -my mistake, i didn't even know of a company called British Power Boats though it was clearly written saw on the plans -thought it was a generic name, thanks to clear that out!
- for the Lockheed Hudson too!

Thanks Karol for the Airfix tip maybe I will have luck on that one who knows ? Thankd for telling of the halifax, i will have a look at this one too.

As a bonus I think it would also be the same turret on Avro Anson, but the documentation on that special plane looks pretty sparse.

Hi Jean-Bernard

I'm fairly certain that I have a copy of that Airfix magazine - although it resides on the other side of the Country in my parents house. If you can wait a month or so I should be able to lay my hands on it - and possibly some turret diagrams/ images as well. Let me know.

Cheers

JB- I agree about the turret on the Avro Anson. One of my first builds from long, long ago. Think it was 1/72 scale Airfix. Odd for a bomber to have a row of fuselage windows.........

Thanks a lot Karol -that's deeply appreciated. A friend sent me yesterday what I suspect is the Airfix mag, but if you had some extra turret arrangement pics/ diagrams then I would be really very happy about that

hey Rick, Avro Anson is one of my preferred British planes ever, it's very gracious methinks. And then there is plenty of reference on Internet -but no pics from the interior of the turret it seems. oh well.
