brass mounts for ship models

I have looked for brass mounts.."finials"....for mounting ships hulls onto wooden bases...and I have had no luck!..i have tried electrical shops,lighting stores,trophy stores,....does anyone have some suggestions for me?

Many thanks Jim..im doing a couple of Flower class Corvettes ..one for a crewmember  aboard her, another for the son of a crewmember aboard another Flower..many thanks for any help

I use brass door knobs. I machine the outer surface flat on a lathe so it will sit flat on the base. You can pick them up at any hardware store and they are cheap.

I used to do the local hunt for lamp finials/parts but have favored brass bushings, instead.  I get them at LOWE's home improvement stores and they come in about 3 or 4 different sizes.  Then, I can use any appropriately sized screw or bolt to fasten the model to the base.
