Im having problems sourcing what color depth charges were painted in 1944 45 for the IJN. Models Ive seen are painted same grey as the ship. That makes sence to me as you wouldnt want them bare metal shining in the sun. One slightly less bleary picture of the DD Im making seems to show the charges sitting in projectors and they are much darker than the ship grey around them. Maybe black or gunmetal in the shot they are in bright sunlight.

Help appreciated

Hi Allan,
Looking through my references, I couldn't find any color pics of Japanese depth charges. The next best thing, black and white photos, seem to show them as the same gray color as the ship... although precious few of these pics have survived. As a secondary source, the Gakken Shuppan "Pacific War series" books on the Akizuki and Kagero classes have numerous color paintings and color photos of large scale models of Japanese DDs. These all show the DCs as the same color as the ship. Hope this helps!

regards,
Tim
