Hello there, I was just about to but a 1-700 Tamiya light cruiser IJN Yahagi for less then £5.00 when I noticed the same model for £12.00 that caught my eye, it said 'new Tamiya Yahagi' obviously I emailed those selling this model, and sadly the response wasn't worth having - yes new Tamiya model - it said, well, I can read that for myself certainly not what I asked them in the first place.
So, apart from the same looking box, some are Aoshima/Tamiya some are less then £5.00 and if these are indeed new tooling, does anyone actually know what is actually new about this kit -
1-700 IJN Yahagi by Tamiya (new)
Look forward to your reply.

That's a great question, Alec!
I'm no Tamiya expert, but what I know is Tamiya to date has produced two 1/700 scale kits of the subject Yahagi in 1/700 scale, and I don't remember hearing about anything new on the kit...my first guess, a re-issue of the previous kit.
Interestingly, if you pull up the kits at Tamiya USA.com, you see the two kits listed, one discontinued, one not...look at the item/part numbers...they interchange, which leads me to think that a re-issue has been made.
Any one have any solid answer?

PS; Personally, Alec, I would consider looking at Hasegawa's 1/350 Yahagi, mate...larger, more money, yes, but no comparison in tooling, and great aftermarket goodies to boot...just my 2 pence!

Hi Gunny funny enough Kym Knight is full steam ahead on the 1-350 Yahagi at the moment and doing a great job, on the subject of 'new' I suppose its always a good way of charging more money for the same kit.
And if that's true, I've just paid way over the odds for my 1-700 Yahagi.

Kym has probably finished three of them by now!
I'm at a constant admirattion with his ability to crank out builds at the quality and speed that he can...amazing!
And yes, mate, I do believe you've just bought last years model at this years price, I'm afraid...because quite honestly, I don't remember this being mentioned over the boards, and if there were any changes/improvements made with tooling, surely there would be a grand bit of hoo-ha about such...
Anyone else that can enlighten us with any info?...news-hounds?....

Thank you James, while I can spend 4 hours looking at a fishing float I get very ichy fingers when on ebay, I should have asked and then awaited the answers, with me that's easer said then done, I brought the model that said 'new' it wasn't new a re-issue and nothing more then that, translate this and I've paid well over the odds, learn by mistakes eh.
With Christmas coming up fast and the postal service being snowed under, and the word of 'NEW' in the air, like daft I brought it just to make sure I got it by Xmas.
Still, thank you for the response.
