Hello All,
I was wondering it we here at MSW could do a campaign for all of the ships that did not get done for a campaign. Over on the other sites it is called get it done, finish the job. etc.
So here is what I propose a Campaign called Dry Dock. Any ship started, But not finished is allowed. It should run for 1 year. No fancy rules, any and all started ship builds are OK.
I have 2 or 3 that would qualify, How about the rest of you.
So what do you think?
Cheers,
Bruce

Sounds good to me.
The one at Armorama is on it's second run now, so I guess it proved to be popular.

Yes and .. no, one of the primary reasons I join campains is the possiblity to learn about the era, the type or the techniques that are the the theme for the campain.

A "clean up" campain won´t appeal to me a such - but if someone is building something like what I have in my stash I might join.

Hello All,
We have 4 yes and 1 no.
I think it would be a good campaign and help clean up the workbench/stash of part built ships.
I wonder what Mark, Rui and JIm think? The campaign is going to be a very long one and would take alot of the staff's time. I do not want to put more work on them.
Thanks for all of your input,
Cheers,
Bruce

I like the "refit" idea; I can fix my USS Kidd that got crushed when the shelf above my workbench came crashing down on it

I can also finish the cold war tin can entry.

A great idea Bruce. I'm basically an Armor, Diorama, Figures modeler, but have several 'stash' 1/700 ship models. I've got an Aoshima USS Washington (BB 56) that I started a while back that would work out great for this. Be a nice change too. Count me in.

Hello All,
That is 6 now interested. How about the start date? June 1, 2010 or January 1, 2011 or some place in between.
I am still worried about having a campaign this long will put a strain on the staff especial Mark ( Gunny).
Let me know what all of you think about the start date. The end date will be easy, 12 months after the start date.
Cheers,
Bruce

This one works for me. I've got at least three good candidates for the build.

Yes, please!

I have a few things "stalled" that need a push to finish... like for instance the 1/700 IJN Unyo (not for a campaign, but still stopped)
Count me in

Hi guys,
Personally, I have twin feelings on this idea... my serious side lies with Mr. Klarbæk's thoughts, BUT, I like it, yes, and would have NO problems with having this one a go...a little mix-em-up fun is never a bad thing!

So you have my support, Bruce, as always, my friend...we could go site wide with the idea to try and get some of the other modeling genre builders to cross over to the "salty side" of Kitmaker!

Hello All,
We know have 9 lets do it, So I think that we should talk about the rules.
With the some campaigns ending December 31, 2010 and others in the spring 2010 How about the Start Date as June 1, 2010 and running till May 30, 2011.
This way it is in between all the other campaigns.
As this is a "clean up" campaign here is what I think the rules should be. The campaign will be called Dry-Docked
Any model started but not finished is allowed
One photo of the model showing where you stopped must be posted before you restart the build.
Multiple Builds are allowed as long as you furnish a Photo of each one.
Any and all scales and time-lines are allowed.
Only one ribbon will be awarded no matter how many builds you do.
At least 1 photo must be posted in the campaign gallery for your ribbon
Have fun
So what do all of you think?
Cheers,
Bruce

Here is an idea in order to make the GB more 'educational". Since it is a "Dry Dock" build, everyone should highlight 1-2 techniques used to fix/update a ship in progress.

I've a question, or suggestion. Why wait until June? Since these are ships we've already begun, and presumably put aside for one reason or another, and that we might have already had all the materials for, why do we need to put completing these off even more. I'd say a start date of Jan 15th, or maybe Feb 1.

Hello All,
We have two new suggestions for this campaign. One is to highlight a new way to build/fix your build.
The other is start End of January/first of February.
On the first suggestion, This campaign is to motivate you to finish all of your "I did not get it done in time for campaign ?" The suggestion is a good one , But does not fit with this campaign. We have Divine Water for this type of suggestion and I have a idea about using this suggestion in a campaign I am going to propose later this year.
Thanks Jim for reminding me about the idea I had last year.

As for the other one, I was trying to start this campaign in between all the start and stop times of the campaigns already approved, But If all of you want to start early then June let me know. I will submit this campaign early this week and the dates can always be changed.
Cheers,
Bruce

I've enlisted but I've got a question. Do we need some kind of time warp for this campaign? Start date June 1st 2010, end date May 31st 2010? We end it before we begin?

I've got three candidates for the build. Airfix 1/600 HMS Warspite, which I started years ago for a Dreadnought campaign, 1/48 Glencoe Coast Guard Lifeboat, which I started for a No Guns Allowed campaign, and 1/350 Trumpeter HMS Hood, which I started for another campaign which I've forgotten.

Nine enlisted so far. I sent Mark a PM to change the end date. Sorry about the mistake.
One more till it is approved.
