Before he served on two SCs in WW1, my grandfather served on the CONNECTICUT - we've got an old frame photo of her from bow on at flank speed .............

A very interesting read, informative and funny at the same time... I can see that you take your hobby seriously, but with the fun component 
 
A very clean built, yet, full of details!
I have to ask you to give a try and put your ships in water - just like the great guys (and great ship modelers) you mentioned (Bob Cicconi and Rob Kernaghan!
Consider this a challenge not a critic
