I'll be watching here also. That kit just cries out to be built, not to sit on a shelf in a LHS or in somebodies stash.

well hull is together .started removing the keel .
had to reinforce the hull from the inside as it started to split .
i used some liquid plastic that i made myself,by putting cut up sprue into liquid cement bottle and letting it disolve.
PLEASE NOTE IF YOU DO USE THIS IT TAKES A WHILE TO DRY AND YOU MUST USE IN A VERY WELL VENTILATED AREA >phew !!!!
I made cuts at an angle then used side cutters to remove the plastic to cut down on the dust ,will then fill and sand as ness.
[/img]
[/img]
plus i had to put in some reinforcing bars inside the hull to stop it flexing while working on it .

While that is in progress ,where to go next?
The funnel .
Assembled top rim filed flat and will add some form of loop for rigging.
ladder thined with needle file [hint get a good swiss one with sharp corners]
the ladder was then brushed over with liquid glue to remove any stray bits in the corners.

The pipes on the funnel deseamed hollowed out and slot made in one [i belive to be the whistle]

Plus another vent ends drilled and hollowed with a 2mm burr.
.
must get some sleep .

That's a good tip about reinforcing the seam. This thread is going to make me have to track down a copy of The Cruel Sea, both the book and the movie.

Hi .
Can anyone help with details of this door latch and hinges ?
It is port side lookiing from the stern and is on the galley in front of funnel. think these are the right terms ish .

also tried to improve port holes ,cut out from plastic card with hole punch 1/4 inch .
hole drilled in center to help center the disc from the back of port hole,
then after allowing to dry over night opened out as seen .

bye .

I'm really liking all these Flowers that are being dusted off and assembled now - Made mine out of the box and it's still a great model, after all- you don't look at a 3' long model close up; it's the overall effect that counts!

Hello there, flower power in 1-72 and at almost 3 foot long, I would love to have built this model, I simply haven't got the room for it. Anyway, as most people will convert this into a full R/C there is (and I'm sorry that either you will have to search, or someone else might be able to tell you) a great photoetch kit for this ship, there's a lot of info on the internet on completed Blueberry/Snowberry and it wouldn't hurt for you to take a look.
You say strengthen with liquid plastic and the fumes chuck up some what, for problems with hull's that don't like being stuck and staying stuck where they are suppose to, I use duck tape, you can even buy re-enforced tape, here in the UK we also call it gaffer tape, cut it to size, stick down, believe me, it won't move, and no bad smell either.
Well good luck, look forward to seeing more of your build.

Just bought a DVD copy off of Amazon. I surprised how much they can go for.

Here's what I have for water tight doors.

Hi just a few more pics to let you know i'm still on it
funnel top bars thinned and pushed from back to dome it slightly

Funnel band flattened and reduced then .5mm holes drilled for rigging loops.
These were made by bending .2mm brass wire over on itself then pushed through hole and ends then bent over and glued from inside.

Funnel with items attached with improvements[well to me ] in white plastic

Thankyou for looking and encouragement

Truly superb worksmanship. You should considering displaying her in a museum!

Very nice work Johnny. I'm glad to see you are still at it. I like the tip about the rigging hoops.
