hi all,
although not my usual forum, I ask on behalf of a fellow modeler.
Dan Morton is a figure sculptor, and is in the process of building up a conning tower with some figures of U-53.
Are there any plans available for this series of U-boot?
Here is Dans request, and idea point.
I'm reading U-Boat Stories edited by Karl Neureuther and Claus Bergen and translated by Eric Sutton. It includes a cover in color and 34 black and white pen and ink illustrations by Herr Bergen, who sailed in U-53 for one voyage and was commissioned by the Imperial German Navy to do a number of illustrations. I'm kinda taken with the cover which shows a view of the Captain and his number one, a signals warrant officer with flags and four crewmen on deck. It was probably done moored in harbor. I'm wondering if I could re-create the conning tower island and maybe 3 or 4 of the crew. I found a photo of a 1/72nd of a Type VIIC WW2 U-boat "island" with four crew on deck after I was considering the idea.
and here is Dans website, so as to get an idea of his work.

a accomplished sculptor, of WW1 interests.
and a real good guy.
So if you can help, please let me know.
Thanks,
Jamie
