Hello All,
I am wondering if anyone would like to do a campaign about the sea battles that were fought around the Guadalcanal Campaign.
There was a lot of sea battles in the area of ocean with enough ships sunk for it being named Iron Bottom Sound.
Any and all ships that fought there would be allowed, From the Battleships and Carriers to the DE and barges.
The campaign would be in 2012 and last 6-9 months.
So what do you think?
Cheers,
Bruce

Hey Bruce!

Let's not limit the action to just the formal battles. For example, I am currently finishing the second item in my Four Stackers series which depicts the USS McFarland in extremis off Lunga Point during a dive bombing attack.

The advantage of the Guadalcanal campaign is the abundance of material to work from.

Hello All,
Thanks for your support and ideas.
I have been thinking about a Grand Campaign of 6 Greatest Battles of the 20th Century. That is why I posted the thread Greatest Battles of the 20th Century to get an idea of that the members think.
It will be 6 campaigns of 6-9 months each with a 7th of the posting of the photo's of who has done all 6 and they will receive a ribbon for each of the first 6 campaigns and a Grand Ribbon for the 7th one.
Kind of crazy, right. But I think we could get a lot of interest of other builders who have not even thought of doing a ship model.
So what do you think.
Cheers,
Bruce

Well, that's a Grand idea! It will take a lot of patience to shepherd a complex and time-consuming project like this, but at least it will offer something for everyone.

Hello Karl,
I need to discuss the Grand Campaign with Mark and the other staff members before I even get near the planning stage.
I just got back from all my docs and they gave me a clean bill of health. One even said I had the heart of a 120 year old.
So lets all think about what battles we would like to do for the 6 campaigns.
Thanks for the support.
Cheers,
Bruce
