Does anyone know how to make clear (either glass or acrylic) square cases for displaying models? What type of adhesives you use, how they're bult, how you keep them clear?

I'm building Lindberg'd D-Day LST in 1/245 (hull is 16 inches long and I want a case to go over it.)

Thanks, Hellbent

Well, it's going to sound a bit crazy, mate, but if you think of what you're wishing to do in a physical sense, you want to build an open ended box out of glass or acrylic, right?

If you turn the box over bottom side up, you have a clear display case....BUT, if you flip it over again, closed bottom side down, what do you have? An aquarium!

SO, with that in mind, here's a very good step by step on how to build an acrylic aquarium (or display case! ), that I have used and works really well...acrylic sheet is not cheap, and scratches easy, but it will be lighter than a glass case. Just make some minor adjustments in size that you need, and follow the steps.

Hope this helps you out!

Thanks Gunny! That article is great! It's funny how simple things can become complicated when your "experience" as a modeller gets in the way!

Thanks, Hellbent
