Ahoy Shipmates!!!

I know it has been a very long time since I have done a MSW WOD. I counted about 500 different words and phrases which I had passed along over the tenure of that column.

Well, after being really wrapped up in work and another project I have decided to send the WOD to the dockyards for a while and start a new column. This one will focus on ships and their names. I figure this way I can hit just about every navy around the world and educate everyone and even myself.

So, let me say I decide to pick, Ronald Reagan. I would talk about his life and also cover the ship(s) named for him. Or take Victory for example. I would cover the ships named Victory over the years.

This will also allow me to take requests on ships or names. At the moment I will probably do a couple of these a week and probably start on or about June 21.

Sound off and let me know what you think!

I enjoyed the WOD posts. Look forward to the ship's names. US destroyers seems to be fertile ground for educating people about lesser known naval heros. Do other navies follow a practice like this/

That is a good question. I am going to be 100% honest and say, I do not know for sure. But, we shall find out. I do know some navies use geographical names, some use Naval hero’s, some use political figures, others might even draw names from a hat.

Thanks. I really liked the WOD.
Ship names? How about ESSEX? Gotta be some history there.

Essex for sure will be on the list. I already gave a quick run down of the USN Essex ships in a WOD post from March.
