I have the older version of the Fujimi 1/700 Kongo and have a few questions before I get started.

1. On the aft section of the kit by the main gun, I noticed something that looked like Aztic steps on a small box. What is this? Should I remove the steps and add PE Ladder?

2. Are the guns along the side hull 5 inch guns? What is the info on them and were could I find info on them? I would like to replace the molded plastic ones with brass rod. What size rode would work best? I would like to use hollow rod if I can.

I have the GMM PE set and some extra bits of railing. I don't wont to spend any extra money on this kit. I'm willing to do plenty of scratch building to bring this old model up to fighting speed.

Any info or tips would be great.
