I suppose everyone is different and depending on view, research or whatever it might be, I was wondering if the IJN light cruisers, or even all IJN surface shipping, where would you display the meatball flag, or rising sun flag, on the back of the ship, hung from a mast, I honestly check to see what type of flag I have and what will look nice. But, is there a certain order that IJN flags should be hung ?

Not research as such, judging by actual photo's, most have the rising sun flag way back, some 1st main mast, while others hardly fly the meat ball at all, I asked the question suggesting that perhaps - depending on the task detates what flag will fly and where this would be hung, some time ago I build a small diorama of HMS Echo, looked fine to me, then someone pointed out my flags were round the wrong way.

If they did like the US, then on the mast was underway, and on the fantail was in port. I could be mistaken but I believe it to be pretty standard naval practice.
