Hi Guys,
Would anyone know the correct name for these type of life jackets and also the colour? Buff comes to mind for colour but I have no idea what the jackets were called.
Thanks
Al

Alan,
They look very similar to a description I read (somewhere) of the British merchant marine issue life preservers (as far as I remember that's what they were referred to as) and were described as canvas with cork blocks for flotation.
A buff(ish) colour would probably be a safe bet.
I also remember the crews were told not to jump from too high a height because the preservers could break necks as you entered the water.
The book was called something like: Merchant Marine-the fourth service.
I still have it somewhere but can't put my finger on where it is at the moment.
Any updates will be posted here when(if) the book re-appears

Many thanks, I'm hopeing to use the two figs from the Biber as RN Officer/Petty Officers if the uniforms are similar.
Cheers
