Finishing up my Revell ice breaker, started to paint the prop and couldn't decide if the prop should be brass, bronze or steel. Any ideas?
Jim

Majority of screws are bronze.Steel is prone to rust and brass is too soft.

Jim and Rob
Stainless steel is also used as shown on this National Geographic photo of the Canadian icebreaker, Louis St. Laurent.
Although I've failed to substantiate this with a brief internet search, the Revell models, the USCGC Eastwind and USCGC Burton Island, being that they are of older ships, leads me to believe that the propellers were most likely bronze.
cheers;
Bob
