I usually build planes and land vehicles, WWII stuff most of the time. This was my first finished maritime model and it was a very pleasant exercise. Once I peaked inside the box I was amazed by the amount of detail this model has for only 5 euro, therefore I brought it home and immediately started building it.

The model was airbrushed with a mix of Tamiya paints, some details were brushpainted with Vallejo, the weathering was done with oil paint and everything was sealed with Testors Dullcoat.

And with the spares:

Nice little build - I like what you have done with the "spares" - you might consider adding the antennawires.

If you like the details on the 1:700, you should treat yourself with a AFV 1:350

I've also been building a 1:400 scale Type VIIc by WCM:

I think I prefer 1/700, just like 1/72 in terms of vehicles and planes.

I chose not to add the antenna wires because I was afraid that if I started to detail it, it would not be a "quick-build" anymore Looking at the finished model, I can see they would have add some realism to it.

Should I look for "generic" PE railings or are there specific sets for each german sub? Some PE accessories and figures would really bring these small kits to life..

Thank you for you input.

That is a nice project there. I too like how you handled the spare conning tower.

Olį Francisco!!

Excellent project and mini project!!
I dare you to go and make a waterline model of another of these Hobby Boss subs... They will give you a good ratio fun/interest/progress/learning curve!

I had a lot of pleasure building this one and I'm sure I'll build more. I didn't build it as a waterline model because, when I noticed, I'd already assembled all the parts and didn't feel like cutting them again : )
