How come these photo features don't give basic kit info? Scale, manufacturer, etc.?

Hi Steve, I can't answer your question generally but I can tell you in this instance this kit is the Mirage 1/400 O.R.P. Orzel. More detail on the build is in the Stand By Torpedoes group build forums.

Yes, Mirage Hobbies has a fondness for 1:400 scale. They have some nice relatively unknown sub and preWW2 torpedo boat kits.
