Hi Guys
Colin Swager from New Zealand here.
Can anyone give advise on how to simulate canvas covers on ships boats in 1/350 scale. I would like to add a few covered boats to my HMS HOOD model that I am currently working on.
Thank you

I seem to remember someone here using the white teflon tape that plumbers use to seal taps. Haven't tried it myself mind you

Teflon tape is a good idea. I hadn't thought of that. Will it loosen and slip off after a while? Might need glue to make it permanent, but it's already white, very thin and flexible. I really like that idea, more since the narrow width of the tape shouldn't be a problem at that scale.
If it were my kit, my first try would have been to make cover shapes from thin styrene, then with a heavy dose of liquid cement, induce a sag into it with my finger or a dowel.

If reshaping stryene, do not do it on the boat part! Fumes from cement can still melt/damage paint/plastic.

Another alternative is white decal - those from craftshops not models - the ones I've got tend to be thicker than normal model decals and very elastic - can easily extend to twine the length.

Tissue wetted slighty with a thin wash of white glue works too.
