Hey All
I was watching, a show about a quest for a sunken U-Boat. And In popped the Idea of a Group Build about Ships that have been sunk in combat or as artificial reefs and such. Thought it might be cool and fun.
Criteria would be:
Any model subject that was Acutally lost in Combat of naval Warfare,Natural Disaster sunk as an Artificial Reef and of course Pirate Ships and Big sail stuff as well.
Any Nation
No More than 25% started.
Kits can be displayed of your liking, stand, Dios, or whathave you.
Time frame: July 1 2011 thru Jan 1 2012 or whatever the Admins say.
What do you all Think. lets get it on the manifest.

Eugene,
That is a cool idea for a campaign. I don't know if I will be able to take part or not. If I do I think I would like to do something along the lines of the Civil War Confederate submarine the CSS H.L. Hunley.
Hopefully you will get some interest.

Hi Thunder,
I like the idea, but would prefer a bit later timescale.
I have been toying with the idea of building a small scale wrecked u-boat, after seeing a documentry regarding the Navy's mining of the Bristol channel. Some mines were tethered deep in the "swept channel" to catch u-boats, and those sunk by these mines were credited and publicised as sunk elsewhere.

Anyone else? I think this could be a fun campaign. Nothing like building something and then turning right around and making it look destroyed!!
If this one is a go I will definitely build a small CSS Hunley vignette.

I will say I am in, but my success rate for completing is really bad. I do like the idea and we might just get some interesting projects.

Great idea, but I think you could expand it to anything on the bottom of the sea. Fx. aircraft and tanks as well. A lot of tanks have been dumped for use as artificial reefs.

That's another idea. As a Chicagoan most of my life, I know Lake Michigan is littered with naval aircraft from the training carriers Wolverine and Sable. Okay, I don't normally do ships, but I would do one for this. Count me in!

I will be in as well.
Since I have the lower hull of the Prinz Eugen, I might be able to do a dio of her turned turtle near Bikini.

Hello Eugene,
I count 9 in. You might want to submit a proposal, take a look at what is starting and ending and put you campaign around there. You do not want to overwhelm the members.
Cheers,
Bruce

Great idea, Bruce. I would like to see this campaign get of the ground - or rather into the sea

All kind of things (tanks, planes, ships, subs) dropped/sunk into the sea would apply right?
Here are some great inspirational pictures:

Jesper, to model that first picture, you wouldn't need a very accurate kit! It's all in the finish.

Hello All,
I have seen on the T.V. some new photo's of some of the wrecks in the both the Baltic and black seas. Nat Geo is going to put out a issue of them in the next few months.
They show passenger ships, U-boats, destroyers, gunboats, ferry's, etc. so keep an eye out and pick up the issue it should have some great photo's.
Cheers,
Bruce

PS is anyone doing the Titanic at the bottom of the Atlantic?

I am sitting here looking at the half built projects and extras box to see what I can come up with. Davy Jones was not a person that I wanted to personally meet while in the Navy.

Hello Eugene,
Talk to the guy runnig Scapa Flow about your ribbon. It is to bib and you need to post it on your campaign page. He knows how.
Do you want me to lock this thread and start a new one when I approve your campaign? PM me.
Cheers,
Bruce

After you submit the campaign on the campaign page you can attach the ribbon. The trick to doing that is to name it correctly. The .gif must be lower case.
If you want send the ribbon to me and I can get it up loaded.

Sept to march timescale suits me a lot better, with work and Family doesn't look like much workbench time before then.
