Do yourself a favor and get the new Fujimi kit of the Akagi to work with. That Lion Roar set is beautifull ,but the new Akagi from Fujimi will make it look twice as good.

Got 4 Akagi hulls in various stages of progress

Will soon add another one (fujimi) - on initial comparison it appears the aft portion of the PE deck is a bit 'short' in comparsion to the fujimi kit.

Agreed PC. The fit is not the best but that is half the fun. The Flightdeck is now added and the Hull is Basecoated. The fun part was adding all the individual bracing to the FD underside where it meets the Hull. That tedious task is now done. More Pics to come shortly.....Cheers Mark

Nice progress, a steady hand and a lot of patience I guess

Seeing its a waterline kit - are you going to keep on that base or is that just for handling?

Cheers/Jan

HJi Jan. The base it is sitting on is my temporary Work Stand. It saves on handling the Model whilst being built. When closer to being finished, I will transher the Akagi to her permanent Base.....Cheers Mark

Yes, I am afraid you are quite insane... but strictly in a good way

I am curious how you handle PE this small and delicate? I'm having trouble cutting them off of the sprues without damage, let alone folding or gluing them.

Hi Jeremy. When cutting P/E, I use a pair of P/E Cutters from Xuron. If I cannot use them because of Size, I cut the P/E with a sharp Blade on a Glazed Floor Tile. My P/E is bent to shape using the magical Hold and Fold.and attach them with good old CA Glue.

Ok, I actually just ordered the 440 from Stevens. Not sure if it's their own catalog number or not. If I don't like it I'll go ahead and find an alternate source and get the pro cutters.

That flight deck looks beautiful!

Thanks for the comments Jeremy. OK Hull and Flight Deck have now been weathered and now onto the next Stage. I added Dots of Black Oil Paint to landing ares and dragged them back with a dry brush. This was done to simulate the Tyre Rubber left behind from lots of Landings. More to come soon.....Cheers Mark
