I have the Trumpeter 1/350 Essex carrier and I was curious is the ship was ever painted in a dazzle pattern, like the Ticonderoga or the Yorktown
Just curious, the all blue job the box art shows is a little dull

I have googled pictures of the Essex, and found a single that shows anything else than a singlecolor finish -

She was painted for a time in Measure 32 pattern 6/10-D - the only Essex class carrier so painted. You can see photos of her in this scheme on her Navsource Page. It was originally adapted from a destroyer camouflage scheme that as far as I know was really only used on some Destroyer Escorts.
