hi everyone,i am building Revells 1/72 Gato sub and need some info. is there a site that shows color schemes of WW2 USN subs? i particularly like the versions that have grey or camo upper hulls with the red anti fouling paint underneath, like the USS Gato, Baya, or Lionfish. i gather these were mid war paint schemes, did any late war USN subs have this? i need to stick to what is available for after market parts/conversion kits, in regards to making an accurate Gato or Balao sub. thank you.

Red anti-fouling was on the way out in 1941 for submarines; black made a much better camouflage. I have posted a 1944 guide for camouflage at:

Bookmark this page: http://www.shipcamouflage.com/warship_camouflage.htm All of the Navy's camouflage measures, painting and ID guides, flags, and plenty of reference pictures as well. I went back to this site constantly during my USS Cod build.
