Hello,
could have sworn I read somewhere that a 1/72 scale type IIB u-boat was coming out this year or in the near future. No details on the company or anything. Does anyone know what I'm talking about , or am I just mistaken?
thanks so much
Tony

ICM brought out a 1:144 IIB this year, you might be thinking of this ? The special Navy IIA can be scratched to a B with some work btw.

Thanks Jan....might have misread it somewhere then. I was going to do what you suggested (scratch the IIA to IIB), but figured if someone was coming out with one soon, might as well wait.
I'll probably just do the conversion...I must be getting senile
thanks again

Special Navy says that they intend to release a 1/72 scale II-b within the year; I've been in contact with them since they released the II-a--which I bought--and they've always intended to release this kit, presumably because of the historical significance of the Black Sea boats.
I, too, breathlessly await this, and have held off from the fairly significant modifications to the first kit to make one of these.
Meanwhile, there is a FABULOUS aftermarket kit from Australia for the type II-a; you can find it here:

Now, if someone would make a World War I U-Boat, I'd be really happy...
