I've seen some 1/700 figures whilst looking for detail sets for warships. I think they are produced by Gold Medal Models and are etched brass and look prepainted. Has anybody used them and just how good do they look? If at all decent I think I will get a set.

I have one set that I intend to use on the flight deck of Graf Zeppelin whenever I can get some decent planes. They are not pre-painted: you bend them to represent 3D poses, and then complete the effect with layers of paint. It gives the impression that something is there, but you need a magnifying head lamp and a never ending supply of patience. #:-)

I've seen pictures of some 1/700 Japanese BB's and CA's with the figure sets used to populate the pagoda masts and AA guns with, and with full photoetch sets used to detail the ships. The guy that built them did a real good job on them, and they came off almost with the effect of a 3D picture when viewed from a few steps back. It's a definite plus, provided they're done right, in competition unless you're doing a ship with all weather decks secured

Martin:
Read your question about the figures and found this to give you a little photo referance of what they may look like.
Granted the Kitty Hawk is 1/720 scale and the Cruiser is 1/700, but the figures on the two ships are the same 1/700 scale.
Hope this link works and gives you and idea of whent the figures may look like.

Once again I hope the link works and hope it helps with what your asking

Thanks Paul, those figures really do make the size of the vessel more obvious and "busy" up the flightdeck. I will definitely get some!
