Hello All,
I am proposing a series of Campaigns with prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place for each Campaign with a Grand prize for the Peoples Choice at the end of the Campaigns.
This will be open at all both staff and members. I am going to ask Rui and Mark to be the judges.
The outline of the campaigns will be the Great Sea Battles of the 20th century:
Jutland
Midway
Battle of the Philippines Sea
Battle of Tsushima
Battle of the Atlantic (both WW1 and WW2)
Falklands Island Sea battle (Aircraft allowed)
That is 6 battles so far, I think maybe 2 more if you all wish.
Prizes will be announced before each campaign and the Judging will be about the model as for the campaign period, weathering, PE and othe extras and display. 25% for each area and the what the judges decide will be the Final.

I am hoping the both Mark and Rui will do this for the campaign, If not I know 2 staff members that will do it, on other sites.

So what do all of you think?
Let me know,
Cheers,
Bruce

Ahoy Bruce,
Excellent suggestion!
Will allow for modelers an excellent diversity of ships.
Cheers,
Joe

Sounds like an awesome idea. What kind of time lines are you looking at for the campaign's? Will these run together or in series?

Great Idea, Very much interested in the Battles of the Atlantic, echo Frank's question re timescales etc, also what about Aircraft in the Battle of the Atlantic WW2, as they did play an important roll?

How about Leyte Gulf, perhaps the greatest sea battle in history? Would open up a large range of possible subjects.

Hello All,
I was thinking about starting the first campaign in the fall. Each will run 6-7 months in a series of campaigns.

Battle of Leyte can be one of the series campaign's.

As aircraft, I am trying to have this as a ship campaign, But if enough want to add aircraft I am open to the idea.

The Battles will alternate between Early 20th century, Mid 20th century and Late 20th century IE: Midway first, Jutland next, Tsushima, Falklands, Atlantic etc. Not in that order but something like it.

There will be a 2 week lax time between each series for Judging and prep for the next one.

I am looking at August or September for the start. I do need 10 to start this.

I am out of the running as I will be putting up the prizes.

Cheers,
Bruce

Would certainly want to do some of them, but not all. Battles of the Atlantic, Falklands, certainly, maybe Jutland & Tsushima, depending on timescale, money & kit availability.

Neither of the abowe mentioned gents - Mark and Rui - seems to be active on the site anymore ?

Otherwise a fine idea - in regards to the battles I donīt have much to offer.

Hello Jan,
I am going to try to get them to just do the Judging and maybe get them back on-site.
If not I have a back out plans for Judges.
Cheers,
Bruce

Hey Bruce - did this one get any traction? great concept!

Once i get ingear with the new workbench and settled, I can volunteer to run a group build. Maybe a re-run of Small Crafts or Tin Cans. Another idea I bandied in the past was Nuclear Power. Did MSW ran a Falklans campaign? I have not been around for more than a year
