I got rid of my 1/350 Nimitz and 2 Tico CG's. I'm just doing Tonkin Gulf Nam warships from now on.(BigJ is my WWII build just to have it.) Hancock is the first of many in 1/350 and this is second build a resin from IronShipWrights.

Those converted CL's really are odd looking ships, very top heavy in appearance, yet strangely appealing.

Will be following with interest

Very nice Mardis. It's the forward accommodation and the tall stacks that give her that top heavy look. the rest of the ship is normal in regards to length, beam and air-draft.
Keep the photos coming
Cheers,

I love cruisers, though the more conventional configurations are my cup of tea. Looks like a lot of resin there. I suppose you will put it together in sub assemblies? Ship newbie question there

Looking forward seeing how you go with this one.

Hi Mardis,

Great work, really captures the odd look of these ships.

Also like the inclusion of such quality pics of the real thing.

Looking good. I served on the Chicago between '77-'80. I actually was on the flag detail during her decomm ceremony. The pic of her pulling into Sydney in '79, I was standing port side just forward of the Tartar launcher.

Cheers
