Hello fellow modellers of marine side,
Iīm hoping to get a group build (Armorama Site) going which involves the use of war maschines, that were capturde or in this case "entered" and turned against their previous owners. Heres a couple of examples for aircraft and land vehicles:
Tiran Series
Shermans with the Germans
Messerschmidts in the RAF
Spitfires and Hurricans in the Luftwaffe
Panther Tanks in US and French service
Russian equip. in the Wehrmacht
and so on and on.....
as you can see, I know of no ships that were taken this side of 1900.
But that doesnīt mean it didnīt happen does it?
Any takers please go to Armorama / Campiagns page 2, there you find the thread
, till now we are only 9, so itīs not been put forward yet. I hope that changes.
Dates are not yet fixed but I was looking at June 2013 to March 2014
Cheers Paul

Hello Paul,
The USS Stewart (DD-224) was a Wickes/Clemson Destroyer captured/raised by the Japanese in 1943 and commissioned as the Shoji-tei 102 (Patrol Boat No. 102). She as a escort vessel and was attacked by allied aircraft many times.
She returned to Allied hands in October 15, 1945.
I hope this helps,
Cheers,
Bruce

EDIT: do not forget subs captured or small armed ships that were captured after the fall of Belgium, Netherlanders, Norway, Denmark.
Cheers.
