Hello to you all, I have purchased a 1/35 Verlinden Resin Barge (looks similar to the old Thames barge) I wish to add a windlass to the area for'ard of the skylight. There isn't a lot of room. The measurements for a 1/32 windlass appears much too large. I am really after 1/35 but that appears to a scale not used in ship models and equipment.
How can I establish that the Barge is actually 1/35 and not 1/48? I have checked out RB fittings but they do not manufacture windlasses. The Model Dockyard have quite a few but of various sizes. I have tried transferring the dimensions from the site to the barge but I am not sure if the windlass chosen would fit. (Really need the item here to test it, but if it is wrong then I waste money)
As an after thought what would be the correct windlass, I intend for the barge to be diesel, So a steam windlass would be out!!..
Hope this all makes sense
Thank you in anticipation.
Tony
PS Any other places on the web that specialise in ship equipment. I cannot find any 1/35. I have visited a few sites but still have difficulty because of the dimension problem.

I build wood ship models, and the problem isn't scale, but dimension. Figure out what the dimensions are and go from there as that's how they're sold. Here in the US I get my fittings from BlueJacket and Model Expo. A quick search of the internet turns up Modeller's Shipyard in Oz. Here they are:

Thank you for your prompt reply. It dawned on me that it was dimensions. I am pleased to have that confirmed...makes sense as I kept measuring and couldn't figure out what was going on.
Thanks for the other info. I generally work in 1/35 figures.
