Are there any 1/350 styrene WWl U-boats available? I know there are a few resin ones but they are really expensive! I would like to get the WWl Alliance Modelworks resin 'Vulkan' Uboat tender/ repair ship and would like to place a couple of Uboats being serviced alongside.

I think you are going to struggle with that one mate. You might be able to do something with a Type II as they were at least pre-wwII but I don't know much about the tender and it's period of service.

Cheers

The Vulkan was surrendered to the British at the end of WWl and sunk in 1919, so any u-boats I use will have to be specifically WWl era.

Biggles:

A long time ago, I made a 1/700 surfaced U-boat out of a hasegawa Mk VII.

1. the surfaced hull form is close to the WWI cruiser hull, (with some mods to the bow. The deck gun at that scale is close enough for me.

2. I scratched the distinctive conning tower.

3. I won third place at my local show .

This is very long ago but the conning tower is is simple look up on the web. I sketched a profile from a Time Life book the subject, This was in the 1970's. (1st issue Hasegawa u-boats; IX & VII), I imagine 1/350 would be do-able.

Oh the Type II is too short for a cruiser U-boat. The VII has the correct form.

The model is lost to history,
Good luck
