This was announced some time ago and looks like it will go ahead for next year.
Interesting answer from Italeri Q & A page,
"TA : “We have received a lot of e-mails that show us a great attention on our 1:35 scale Motor Torpedo Boats collection. We are very happy about the result of our job in particular on the recent PT-109. Nowadays, we are working to understand if it is possible to realize an aftermarket kit with figures and accessories for 2013. Regarding the new products, the next one in 1:35 scale will be the X-crtaft midget submarine. It shows our will to continue to explore interesting opportunities in the 1:35 ships. "
Hopefully the coming years will see further additions to their 1/35 scale range. I've sent my 'wish list' already

 Cheers
Al

The X-craft would be fabulous as would the Higgins PT-boat. we have one, a Med combat vet , being restored in New Orleans. An LCA would be ultra welcomed as would be even the LCI series . Love to see a good Swift boat in styrene as well.
Italeri gets a lot grief, but they are consistently cutting edge on innovation and imagination .

Not to hijack the post, but if you go to (Modelwarships).com, and scroll down to whats new, there is a real good article from the fellow who helped develop the 109 kit. He gives the pros and cons and explains the various options quite well. Also there are some other sites listed for more info on P.T.'s, most of them are for the 77 foot Higgins but very helpful info.

Hi Dave,
Got to agree, Italeri come up with some very interesting kits the mainstream don't do.
Their range of 1/35 boats has been really inspired, I remember my surprise when I saw the LCVP in 1/35 scale something I though I'd never see.
Cheers

I wrote them at one point earlier this year suggesting Weapons/detail sets for their 1/35 boats . They did a nice 1/48th detail set for the CH-47 that seems to sell VERY well. Why not things for the different boats. Think of what could be done with the Vospers or any of the U.S. PT boats. I'd love to see a Thunderbolt mount and different radars and their associated masts .

Hi Dave,
I had hoped they would do a few RN sailors but no sign of anything there yet. There would be good options for accessory/upgrade sets with seafaring type equipment.
Cheers

This will be on my wish list, although I'll wait until I see it on sale.

The kit is shown as No 5614. There is a recent picture on PMMS showing the box art, as per original details above, and kit No.
Getting closer. lol.

Hi Jeremy,
Hopefully, this will be an interesting and detailed kit, I'm looking forward to it. Als build of the Bronco German submarine almost pulled me into the dark side lol.
It will be interesting to see where Italia go from here. I'm hoping for a new LCA and LCP (R), but small boat wise there are plenty of options for coastal craft and a Fairmile D would be wonderful.
I found this on U Tube: Although the images are not that sharp it is an impressive looking build.

Thanks for sharing that link Alan, that's an outstanding model. If Italeri does choose to come out with a "Dog Boat", I would be sorely tempted to add it to my 'flotilla'.

A Fairmiles would definitely be most welcome.
Now the question....1:35 or 1:72?
I would prefer 1:72 but others may prefer 1:35, after all, it is only slightly bigger than the Schnellboot by 8 scale feet.
Cheers,
Joe
