I did a search, without results, of what uniform a Chinese sailor would wear in ca. 1880's, or specifically, during the Battle of the Yalu River. All I found was a sentence which stated the Chinese didn't wear Western-style uniforms until around 1910. Did this mean they wore civilian-style clothing, or a traditional Chinese uniform? Details are irrelevant, just general colors, as this is for 1/350 scale figs.

Peasant style clothes with leggings from the photos I have seen. No specific colours as the pictures are all sepia, black and white.

Hi,
don't know about the accuracy but apparently the guides at the Ting Yuen replica wear the uniforms of the 1880s. There's a photo of one here

That's great. The B/W original photo looks like light grey, or blue-ish grey, with maybe black turbans or head wraps. I'm doing Bronco's 1/350 Chih Yuen. Really excellent kit with TOTAL P/E included. No A/M neccessary at all. I would rate this kit as good as, or even better, than any Dragon ship model.
