Hello all,
I was just wondering if anyone has compared the quality of the Aoshima and Skywave 1/700 Amagi kits. Also, are they both waterline kits, or full hull? I'm thinking of building one, but I know next to nothing about Skywave's quality and I wanted to see what the experts thought.
Thanks in advance!

Skywave isn't bad at all, neither is Aoshima. Aoshima tends to be a little old-school on detail, and Skywave tends to be a bit more refined. I have had some minor fit issues with the hull pieces on Skywave kits, but nothing too major. I'm used to the Skywave kits having a complete hull that allows you to build either a waterline version or a full-hull using the same parts. If the Aoshima kit you are looking at is listed as a waterline model, then you won't normally have this option. That said, if you want to add aftermarket detail sets, then the Aoshima kits are usually the way to go.
