Hi Al,

You are not raining on my parade.

Agree the jeep might not be 100% accurate, but I am quite impressed with the kit and the figures. (Might not use all of them, and some may need modifications to their pose, but regardless of that I think it is a better choice (and a better kit) than the Bren carrier.

Also I had an ulterior motive for buying it, in amongst the weapons provided are a number of spare Vickers K machine guns, which I have been looking for my 1/35th Vosper.

Thanks for your comments.

I was wondering what had happended with this build Simon. Looks like you have great plans. The mines are very nice, I bought the Cammett set years ago but never got around to building them, (some even emigrated to Uraguay, Mr. Moscatelli ).
Nice to see you are back on track.

Oooo yes, and here they re-took place and had many kids .................... jajajjajajajajaj

great job Simon !!!!

Some actual progress,

One of the mines that will be decorating the scene. What is in on the sprue.

There are about 50 plastic and a dozen etched parts for each mine. first job the reel that connects the mine to it's anchor.

The reel wound with the cable supplied in the kit (sufficient for only about two of the four mines included) and mounted using the etched parts rather than the plastic. exact guidance as tho where the cable fitted would have been nice. (minor comment, not reel critisism All the fittings have also been added to the end plate.

All the six sides of the anchor detailed and ready for assembly.

The anchor assembled, considering it was six flat plates the assembly was trouble free.

Mounts for the mine fitted, and the two halves of the mine test fitted.

The mine completed with only the upper horns fitted, the kit has options for the mine with no, some or all horns fitted and in the transport and the ready to launch position.

All in all a very nice little kit, and reasonable value for money, whether used an an S Boat or as cargo on a vehicle.

work on the jeep has been started, I decided to have the chassis ready to test fit the engine as it is assembled. A few parts are vague in their fit. S far so good. here is progress at the close.

I have yet to remove the rear bumbers.

More soon

Si.

Thanks Julian,

It is a great little kit, only minor vice is slightly confusing instructions as to the final set up of the mine, and where some the etch fits relative to that.

Having said that I did enjoy building it.

If it warms up outside will shoot some paint at it today.

Thanks Joe,

The mines will look great on the back of an S Boat, all the parts in the kit to have them ready to launch.

Today's update.

Jeep, Engine finished, rear suspension assembled and ready to go on.

Meantime risked the chilly North London air and shot some TS4 "German grey" at the mine.

I didn't notice the slight flaw in construction until I uploaded the pic, actually barely noticeable 1:1, just put that corner to the back.

Suspension and exhaust fitted, took a little wiggling, but all in all superb fit for such a variety of shapes.

The single piece body moulding is test fitted against the chassis, and it fits very well, any problems here on it are my fault!

First stage of the body fittings on, some etch to go on next, so good time for a break. again test fitted against the chassis and all good.

A small amount of progress on the Jeep.

Had a minor issue with the back of the back seat, broke a leg off cleaning it up, but a bit of brass rod solved that.

Seats and seat frames fitted, along with a few other bits and pieces.

Moe soon

Hi Si,

Nice progress. Is the mine form the AFV Club set?

Cheers

Thanks Al,

The mine certainly is from the AFV set, quite impressed, 4 for abt £15, looks pretty good and went together well.

still need a bit more junk for the dockside, but have the spares box for that.

More Jeep stuff,

Hope to get Dreadnought on her base next weekend, so I gat get some work done on the dock itself.

The radiator has been sprayed Citadel Chaos black, and the grill sprayed OD, (cheat so I can mask that not get overspray on the radiator.) front wheel steering fitted turning left, the kit has options for straight, left or right.

The Radiator has had a drybrush of a steel colour on it's front, fitted and the chassis finally attached.

More detail on the body, heading towards spraying.

Cheers Al,

It is a nice little kit, think I will get the trailer together before I start shooting paint around.

A bit of paintwork on the dock today.

The dockside metalwork has had a rough coat of semi gloss black, to give an uneven base for the highlighting and weathering. Also the drains & manhole covers have had a wash of the same .

the tracks have been drybrushed first with citadel boltgun metal, then a highlight on the inner edge of each track of runefang silver, the area areound the tracks has had a wash of lifecolour exhaust grease, and the metalwork a highlight of boltgun metal.

Quite a bit more work with washes ect. to go.

I love those Citadel paints too Simon, nice to use and they cover well. The names are bit of a laugh though, my favourite is "dead flesh" which is a great colour to paint rubber life rafts with

They are good paints, never found metallics or light colours, that cover as easy as they do. also use the rattle cans Skull white & Chaos black as primers, depending on top colour. Love the names, they do make me smile.

A bit more work on the weathering, all still crude and messy, plenty more to do.

A bit more on the jeep, this thing has more etch than some ships I have built.
