Hello forum members. Being mostly a plane and armour modeller, I decided to try somehing different this year. I built the soviet Schcuka class in January and took part in the Dive3 with the I-58. I enjoyed it so much that I bought a few ships and decided to give it a try. I worked on the Yukikaze on and off for three months and now its ready for paint. The Hasegawa kit is great from the box, I only used Eduards PEs for the 1940 version. The PE set has a lot of details which are not that needed in my opinion, like the doors od windows, and others which were too fiddly for me to handle or to weak to survive the painting process. Next I will post some pictres of the painting process.

Very clean build Naseby. I just hope you haven't put too much together as the decks are going to require LOTS of masking if you are airbrushing..

Im so glad You like it. I have a good motivation to press on. I managed to do the basic painting. It started with the dark RLM Grey for upper parts and a mix of red and redbrown for the hull. Then I added some shadows with Buff nad Black. I was not planing to mask the deck. I just painted it by hand with Valejo mud brown and sealed it with clear for later apliction of wash. Iknow it sounds easy, but it wasnt, I saw 7 episodes of Star Trek TOS during the process, so You can imagine how long it took. Im not happy with the pictures, but its all I can manage now. In reality, both the Grey and the Linoleum are faar darker.

I havent posted for a month now, becauseI had other project on the bench, but I still managed to make some progress with the Yukikaze. Here are the latest pictures. Im finishing the AA armament and will add the last bits and details in the coming days.

Ok here are the final pistures. I finished the Yuki about two weeks ago, but managed only now to get some decent pictures. Since Im still new to ships, Im not sure taht I want to do the rigging. Maybe in the future. Mowing up the hill, the next project will be the USS San Francisco.

Just building the Tamiya 1/350 myself now. Love the painting effects you achieved.Gives me inspiration to try and attempt the same results. Looks like you used an airbrush to get the shadowing effect but I know you used a brush.

Your Yukikaze looks great! I agree the comments about the painting effects. I have one in my stash and I hope I can get mine to look like yours.
