Hi people,
A little help required please.

Having read the book "Iron Coffins" I have bought a Revell 1:144 scale Viic/41 U-Boat model.

Can anyone please help me with the correct colours to paint the hull and superstructure. Being an AFV and aircraft modeler this is my first attempt at a submarine.

Any recommendations as to the best paints would be of great help.

I look forward to your comments.

Regards
Martin

Hi Martin.

Grey grey and grey. Joking aside though Lifecolor do or did a box set of German naval colours. Also woth considering are Citadel pints from Games workshop, they do a nice range of greys, just a matter of picking/matching them up.
You could try using search to see if you can pick up any old build blogs here for any WWII German uboat and someone may have a more definite idea.

Check out Daniel Moscatelli's U-boat builds for accurate colours and weathering.

Hi Martin: The kit instructions have a good color selection to choose from. The Kagero 3D books show various color combinations as well as very good detailing photos. I did one of those subs U-96 which is posted in the dive 3 campaign. I painted it with Lifecolor paints, and detailed it with a few AK washes. Have a look. Bob

Hi Martin,
Do you brush paint or airbrush?
Do you use acrylics or enamels?

Cheers,
Joe

Hi Jose,
I tend to brush paint rather than airbrush. Although I do own one I am not very competent with yet.

Enamels and acrylics I use them both.

Thanks Daniel for the link. That looks like the answer to my question.

Looks like a mighty impressive set of paints.

Thanks for all the help.
