Hi all
Finally finished this one. It was actually planned as a test build before Building my Chih Yen, but Things dosen't always go as planned. It's the Rewell kit, and the railings are some old set from Verlinden, which I used as a practice run, before I get involved in more complex kits. The rigging is made of string for tying fishing flies.
Well, please do comment.
Jacob

Good looking result. If this, with all the rigging wasnt a complex project, than I dont know what is

Very nice looking model.
I have dived on most of the the scuttled fleet up in Scapa Flow, but the Emden was run aground by the British to try and save her. She was given to France as part of the treaty of Versaille, but was too damaged. She was used for target practice, and was then scrapped.
Jacob keep up the good work.....I am intreagued to see what the complex kit is you plan to build, will be watching out for that. If it is as good as this build it should be very good.

Nice job Jacob! Yours is a very clean build, and I don't often see Emden finished in gray war paint; I always thought that the uniform finish emphasizees the graceful lines of that of a most graceful ship.

Top marks all around, Jacob.

I am especially impressed with how you got the fishing line to go taut without bending the delicate plastic yards and topmasts out of alignment--that is truly a feat of master craftsmanship.

Nice build Jacob,

Are you going blog your Chin Yuen, would be very interested to see that. I have that in my stash, currently working on the Ting Yuen posting over on Ship Types by class forum.

Thank you all for the nice comments. I'll try to explain what I mean with the term "complex". The only extras' this kit has is the Verlinden PE railing, and that I hollowed out the gun turrets, everything else is OOB. The complexity comes with more PE and more sub-assemblies. The Chih Yen build has a lot of finer detailed parts and a whole lot of very fine PE, which I really find hard to work with. So that is what I mean with more complex.
Karl: It's actually not fishing line, but a very thin nylon string, used for binding fishing flies. It sticks in place with a minimum ammount of super glue.
Simon: Sorry, I've done no building blog on this, just the pictures of the finished result. It's in the build features on this site. But it's an absolutely great kit, with loads of crisp details. I highly recomend this kit.
Best regards
Jacob
PS: I'm currently working hard to finish the SMS König from ICM. Hopefully it'll be done sometime soon.

I also have a very hard time handling PE in smaller scales, especially when you get into the 1/700 and smaller range. I have to second the comments about your rigging, it looks quite excellent. If you added PE ladders and stairs your build could almost pass as the real deal in a black and white photo.
