I hope these photos work --it's been a while since I posted here.
These are photos of my newest project -- Verlinden's 1/16 scale 11 Inch Dahlgren Naval Gun. In typical Verlinden fashion, it was a bear to make. Warped parts, huge pour plugs, and useless instructions. Regardless, I'm very happy with the finished product. Everything from the deck to the carriage to the tube were painted with Testor's acrylics and weathered with washes of raw umber oil paint.
Thanks for looking.

A magnificent looking build. I remember building small scale versions on my Kearsarge and Alabama builds, (Revell 1/96 scale if I remember correctly).

Absolutely glorious work! I'm working on a series of 1/96 American Civil War naval subjects, and seeing such a worthy large scale rendition of the ordnance of the day is so much more rewarding than grainy period photos and line drawings from manuals.
Wouldn't it be cool to take such a kit and make it the centerpiece of a tableau vivant rendition of that painting showing action on the gundeck of the Hartford as she brushed past the Tennessee?
