Found this on another site, an unexpected surprise.

And there are these two also.

I've always loved the oddness of these monitors, guess I'll have to dive in and try 1/350 now. Al

Al,
Thanks for posting this....I agree these ships did have a
unique look to them.

Looks like Trumpeter is supplying some etch too.....cool.
Cheers,

Had me really worked up there for a moment Al, thought you meant a Vietnam war river monitor. These are interesting though.

Sorry 'bout that, A 1/35 Vietnam monitor would surely be well received by a lot of people. Al

Still, a World War monitor is welcome indeed. I wonder if a 1:200 version will follow thru?

Tsessarevitch looks good, will definitely be having one of them

The Monitor I am presuming is supposed to be HMS Roberts, hexagonal barbette & 4" battery mounted on the maindeck, but some features, taller funnel, shape of the superstructure just aft of the barbette are more reminiscent of HMS Abercrombie. not incurable, but slightly off when accurate drawings are out there.

I have built the WEM resin Roberts, which appears accurate according to the drawings I have in John Roberts "British Warships of the 2nd World War.

Simon, you are judging accuracy from a photograph of a test shot!

Test shots are the final chance to find fit and molding problems, not accuracy issues. A huge public outcry of a photo of a test shot got the Merit 200th Hornet hull fixed a bit, so it's welcome in my book!

Hi Warren,

Apologies, my comments were meant as constructive criticism, and as I said those two points would not be two difficult to correct. I do welcome the addition of more RN ships (and Pre Dreads).

Or more likely they just wanted some publicity for the release and released that photo to stir up some interest.

Not that I want seem ungrateful, but a Monitor seems like an odd choice by Trumpeter, considering the pent up demand for RN Carriers.

I wonder if the cost of the plans from the National Maritime Museum led them to look at WEM's resin Monitor instead?
