I am working on a Revell USS United States. The masts are molded as one piece with attached yard arms. One yard arm was broken off when I opened the kit. I have sent to Revell for a replacement. 4 weeks so far. I am wondering if I can glue the piece back on and it be strong enough for the rigging? What glue? Or should I just wait on the replacement?

You don't mention which scale this model is. Is it possible to drill a hole in the broken yard and the mast and strengthen the join with a piece of brass rod? Has worked several times for me

Hi Darrell,
As Julian suggested, drill a small hole with a pin vise and a
micro bit in both ends of the break, fill with super glue and
insert a small piece of brass rod. This will do the job.
Try to drill in at least 1/8 to 1/4in deep if to can.
Cheers,
Joe

Even better is to use very thin brass tube as it is stiffer than rod and a bit lighter. Try using a 0.4mm drill with 0.3mm brass tubing. Use super glue to hold the rod then glue the plastic back to the plastic with Tamiya Extra Thin cement which will weld the pieces back together rather than just use CA to hold them together. CA joint may not take the strain of rigging too well.

Hi Darrell. I'm guessing this is the 1:150 scale sailing ship?
If the yards are too small a diameter to insert brass rod as suggested you could try replacing the whole yard with brass rod. To get the taper insert the rod in a pin vise and whilst turning, rub it against some sand paper.
