How do you use those flag decals that come with kits. Nothing about their use in instructions. I saw one site that said to put on thin aluminum foil.

I always use aluminum foil as a backing for flag decals. I prime one side of the foil, apply the decal, trim, then apply super glue to the unpainted backside of the foil/flag, and wrap it around the halyard, or staff. Then you can add furls to the flag. You will probably have to touch up with paint around the edges of the flag, as the foil may show. Some have used Bare-Metal foil which is very thin for smaller scale flags. Below is a picture of the flag on my 1/35th scale Vosper MTB.

The decal wasn't large enough to wrap the flag around the halyard but I was able to super-glue it in place. I didn't think of it at the time, but I could have cut the decal into two pieces and applied them with a slight gap, giving me enough to wrap it around. Hope this helps. Al

I had the same question. Al is that the method you would use for 1/350 flags?

Haven't tried it on 1/350 (That scale is too small for my fumble fingers). It should work using a really thin foil. Instead of applying the whole decal to a piece of foil and folding it, you might try using a single ply, applying 1/2 of the decal to one side and the second half to the other side and then gluing it to the halyard or staff.
