This article is in Dutch. It makes mention of an anonymous donor who sent some of the needles used to tattoo the concentration camp numbers on prisoners held in Auschwitz to the Auschwitz museum.
The needles were found along the route used by the SS guards heading into hiding before they were caught and held accountable for their crimes. Not a nice subject, but something that must not be forgotten in view of how fragile the safety catch is to stop this sort of thing ever happening again:
