Hello;
Anyone know which set of photoetch would be better for the Varyag. The Eudard set or the WEM set. Or are they the same.

Hi Bill,

Cant Answer for the Eduard set, but built the Varyag using the wem set, and I have to say it was very good. very little I didn't use and very little I need to add.

Instructions were very clear, included port holes, bow & stern crests which I left unpainted, Instructions were clear.

This is it in place.

My opinion, & I have only seen the eduard set on the fret, the WEM one is better.

Thanks for the reply. I will look at getting the WEM set I think.

Hello Bill: Take a look at the set from Gold Medal Models. It is by far the best out there.

Correct me if I am wrong, but the gold medal set is a "double" set, that also includes parts for a Borodino class pre dread. If you intend to build both it is value for money, but if you are only building Varyag, you get more brass for your buck with the WEM set.

Bill
I used the PE from Gold Medal Models, and I liked it. The parts seems to be a bit more thick than the PE from WEM, and thereby eaier to handle, at least for me;).

I went with the WEM set and it just arrived today. It is a beautiful set. Also got the gun barels by Master and they are great also. Thanks for all the input.
