I am looking for advice on how to secure the aft cable antenna supports.I am guessing I need a small drill bit to secure the three points of the PE supports.I have a #77 bit, even that seems to large.I think they would need to be secure enough in the hull so that I may attach the cables.I am using .004 invisible thread. It will be near miraculous if the PE is not ruined, wow! what frail stuff.Trying to pre-fit all PE and add at end of the build.

Ahoy David,

The cables should be attached to holes drilled in the hull.

Just use the tripods for support.

Also in this scale(1:350),small dabs of white glue(PVA)will
nicely represent the insulators...just paint them after they dry.

Cheers,
Joe

Thanks for the confirmation on aft cable attachments, the old photos I came across were difficult to determine the details.May I ask if you drilled into the hull to secure the tripods? Thanks for your help.

Hi David,

Yes I also drilled into the hull to attach the supports(tripods)
as these are not the originals supplied with the kit but brass wire replacements.

Cheers,
Joe

just one more question? what size brass rod, and it looks like you welded them together someway? the stock PE tripods are so frail, I will try not to ruin them however a backup plan using the brass rod seems like a great alternative.Thank you.

Hi David,

In 1:350 scale, use either .014 or .016 brass rod.

I glued with CA....make one piece V shaped and then add the piece to form the third post.

PS Feel free to ask as many questions as you want.

Cheers,
Joe

Hi David: Have a look at my german type VIIC in my gallery. It may help. Just click on "photos". It is the 1/144 Revell kit with the Voyager PE set. Bob
