I've just started a Tamiya 1/700 Bogue class escort carrier. I have assembled the hull and superstructure, the small bridge, and the flightdeck with its walkways along the side. I will be leaving them separate for painting. The picture shows the filler needed on the hull sides to remove some sink marks, they weren't really visible until the light reflected on the hull sides. The fit of the parts is pretty good and the components will fit nicely after painting.

I cut out one of the hanger shutters and will put an aircraft inside to add a bit of detail. The kit will be painted in a British camo scheme, as many of these vessels were transferred to the RN as the Attacker class.

Yes I have heard that this is a very nice kit! I have been meening to get one to build.

I have the Skywave version of this kit. The RN sailed Puncher and Nabob with RCN crews. I intend to model one of these two vessels to add to my Canadian collection. I will be most interested to see how you make out with your kit. I believe that WEM makes some generic photoetch that would enhance this model. (:-)

The basic camo is done, here's how it looks.


I next softened and aged the look of the paint by misting on light grey. Then I used the airbrush with verticle strokes to weather the hull with very dilute dark grey.


I wil be adding rust streaks and local washes to pick out the detail.
