The last couple of weeks have seen announcements of new 1/350 kits such as French Battleship 'Paris 1940', HMS Ark Royal, & HMS Rodney on the Boystown Military Miniatures website.

They have just posted the following -

BMM INDUSTRIES

WE ARE PROUD TO ANNOUNCE OUR VENTURE INTO THE PLASTIC MODEL INDUSTRY WITH SOME EXCITING PROJECTS OUR FIRST KITS ARE DUE FOR RELEASE IN EARLY 2015 .

WE HAVE BEEN HIGHLIGHTING SOME OF OUR PROJECTS TO YOU OVER THE PAST FEW WEEKS AND WILL CONTINUE TO DO

SO WE HOPE TO SEE OUR FIRST KIT ON THE MARKET EARLY 2015 WHICH IS A COMBINED PROJECT WITH A FAMOUS MODEL COMPANY FROM JAPAN WHICH WE CANT NAME AT THE PRESENT TIME

ALL OUR NEW PRODUCTS ARE BEING MANUFACTURED
OUTSIDE OF THE UK BY OUR NEW COMPANIONS FROM JAPAN

THESE PRODUCTS WILL BE ALL LIMITED EDITIONS OF 500 ONLY AND RESERVED FOR OUR CLIENTS ONLY

KEEP WATCHING THE SITE FOR MORE EXCITING NEW PROJECTS.

So who is the Japanese co-partner?
Might this be the way forward to get more new sought-after subjects into the marketplace?

Hi Dave

It's so great to see these subjects in styrene at long last!

If I think 'Famous model company from Japan' then I have to think 'Tamiya', which hopefully means these products will be half decent!

But I am surprised at the claim of 500 units only. Most model companies want to maximise their sales as much as possible. After all they need to recoup tooling costs and then make a profit to boot.

It seems like a marketing ploy to me, to ensure the 500 units move quickly at a certain price, then they will be re-branded and sold under another banner, at what price, who knows???

But it does seem a bit odd to limit sales to their existing customers only...

BMM has such a bad rep I wouldn't believe a thing they say until there is an actual model look on other forums to see all the negative feedback

Hope for the best, expect the worst!

We can live in hope, but as always i'll believe it when i see it... There's been rumours for years about 1/350 RN flat tops, so we'll see...

3 more! I really do hope that these items actually materialize.
I am getting tired of people slagging off these guys, they are trying to get something new off the ground, yet they seem to be getting beaten down at every turn.
Come on guys, give em a break and let's encourage them to produce the goods.

HMS Nelson

German commerce raider 'Komet' in 1/350.

K.M.S.Graf Zeppelin.

Have to agree Russ, I hope this stuff makes it into the ,marketplace.

They've just posted another on up - It would make a nice addition to Bismarck,Prinz Eugen, Hood and the Tribals.

HMS Rodney.

Look at the POBox address, look at the phone numbers,
Is it UK or is it Switzerland? Emaill address is a free hotmail account, the shop sysytem is a free system.

To me it smells like....you know what !

Guys, maybe i'm old fashioned - I still believe that people are basically honest. That aside possibly the first 500 in BMMI packaging followed shortly by a mainstream release? What i'm more concerned about is a 1/350 Ark Royal and/or Rodney & Nelson! I'm breaking into a sweat just thinking about them!!

Maybe that is why you gonna send them the money and never get anything for that.
They do have the Lindberg Graf Zeppelin in 1/200 scale listed for pre-order release in November !
Awesome, go and pay for it.
It will never be shipped to you because that one was cancelled by Lindberg about a year after it was announced. Silently of course.
The Yamato in 144 they offer as a kit will never be seen because the manufacturer emailed me that there is no such thing as a KIT ! Not available, not planned or in the making.

It is all fishing for cash !
They charge the big ticket items, purchase some small ticket items and ship them to customers, close the company when it gets too hot and open a new one, repeat as necessary.
Ponzi comes to mind.
But hey, I lean back, get a bag of popcorn and a beer and watch you guys...

It is getting better !
They do have the Graf Zeppelin in 1/200 by Lindberg on their site for pre-orders as of today.
This kit has been placed on hold YEARS AGO !
Doug Ridge from Lindberg Models just confirmed that again !

Here is what a person that calls himself james summerby wrote:
"...as for the lindberg model we have 10 of there kits which we bought from a source i will not divulge over the internet..."

Besides bad grammar you will find this to be a blunt lie !

SCAM ALERT !

check this link to get the "box art" of this announcement...
The "Premium Edition" labels are copied from the Dora 1/35 box art and pasted into their photo editing creation. I will not call it box art because there will never be a box !

http://www.militar.org.ua/foro/la-pintura-y-la-guerra-t18709-2685.html

The battleship Paris is here:

Here goes the Rodney:
http://www.bismarck-class.dk/other_craft_involved/art/britishships/artbritishshipshmsrodney.html

The Graf Zeppelin is actually box art stolen from Revell Germany kit number 05055:

Who still thinks any of that is for real?

Speaking of Lindberg, would Mr. Ridge know if the 1/72 I-20 submarine would be put back on track for release either through Lindberg or Round 2?

Well folks, it seems that BMMI's forecast about a 1/200 & 1/350 Nelson/Rodney were correct.

What say the naysayers now?

If this is a developing trend, then a 1/350 Ark Royal cannot be far away, especially as Trumpeter has already indicated that some of Ark's airgroup planes are in the 1/350 section of their 2014/15 catalogue.

From what I am led to understand, there'll also be a 1/350 Scharnhorst, and it won't be overpriced or over-engineered (like the one from Dragon) this time.

Interesting, and potentially costly times ahead!

I am not recommending that you buy from them, merely that their forecasts were spot-on for Nelson/Rodney in both scales.

If the rest of their predictions from last year come through, we can expect a new Ark Royal, KGV and goodness knows what else, and most likely as you say, from Trunpeter.

Let's hope one of mainstream manufacturers gets on with the Ark very soon--the Bismarck 75th is a little over a year away!

This is the first I've heard about Nelson, Rodney, Ark Royal etc. in !/350 from an established company like Trumpeter.
Can you shed some more light on them for me?
Thanks

Tom, it's in the news sections on another ship forum with pictures from Trumpeters 2015 catalog although Ark Royal is not listed it is only a best educated guess as also in the catalog is a 1/350 Swordfish, Skua and Fulmar. Where the catalog scans came from I don't know but I would say that Ark Royal will probably be next year.

No, this is wrong.

The ad is not a "forecast" but a claim that it with be released UNDER THEIR OWN MANUFACTURE. That means it would not have a Trumpeter label, but a BMMI one.

Don't get stuck on stupid on this. The fact that they claim that they will release something under their own label at a future date says nothing about what other manufacturers will do.
