I was hoping someone could provide me with some advice on how to rescribe deck detail. I am currently building the USS Missouri 1/350 and have had some damage to the deck. My attempts at rescribing the decking has caused more damage. Any specific methods and tools you use would be a great help.

thanks

My preferred tools:

A Squadron scribing tool and Dymo tape... the plastic one that was
used for embossing letters and not the newer thermo type.

Cut a piece the necessary length, align where the detail is
to be re-scribed and run the tool with lite passes till you
reach the desired depth.

This will all work, for re-scribing damaged planking.

Cheers,
Joe

Hi: You are better off to switch to a real wood deck. Artwox, MK1, Hunter, Pontos. all these are excellent.

I have considered the real wood deck but that raises another question as I have never done it before. What is the process you use to add a real wood deck? Do you just sand off all the detail from the plastic deck and glue the wood deck to the remaining plastic?

Any advice is greatly appreciated

thanks
