Hi everyone.
I am looking at a lot of photos of U-boats in various classes; it sure does look like there is a little lip on these boats. Did the decks mount flush with the hull or are my eyes not deceiving me and that the hull extends a fraction beyond the deck.

Hello Alex,
Having examined many photos of the type VII and Type IX, there
is a definite recess of the deck where it meets the hull.
This recess is slight on the type VII and very pronounced
on the Type IX.
I cannot confirm if "all" boats where built this way but
I would imagine so.

The photo of the IX Class looks flush yet those VIIs definitely are recessed.

Daniel's photo and my photos are all Type VIIs.(VIIC & VIIC/41)
Here is the deck of a Type IX:
As you can see, that lip is quite large compared to
the Type VIIs from the previous post.
