Hey all, Im hoping that some of you experienced ship builders can help me with mounting brass barrels. I use a saw and and miter box to remove the plastic barrel and when I mount the brass barrels they are always cockeyed either to the left or right or up. Any advice or techniques you use to ensure a striaght mounting would be greatly apprecaited.
thanks
Dave

When all the barrels on the kit part are mounted on a common trunnion I drill holes for the replacement barrels on the opposite side of the trunnion before cutting off the plastic ones. This way I can center the holes better, and the plastic barrels make holding the whole part easier. Glue in the replacement barrels making sure they are parallel to each other and to the original ones, then cut off the plastic ones. The plastic trunnion will be mounted in reverse in the turret, but that doesn't matter as it will fit either way.
