My question. Was the hull of a Hog Islander rivited or welded?
From various sources I get different answers. From Photos it "seems" as if the hulls are welded BUT in the Captains description of the sinking of the Liberty Glo he says the hull broke near the rivets but the rivets held. Also on the Ship Bucket forum they discuss a drawing of a Hog and then the prominent WELDS. I believe welding was just coming into use in the 1920's with automtic welding being introduced.
At any rate does any one know welded or rivited?
Thanks
Will

Rivited. The electric welding was done only on non hull parts.
